The NDIS Support Catalogue is the official document that defines every type of funded support available under the NDIS, the item code that identifies it, the maximum price a provider can charge, and the rules governing its use.
The Support Catalogue is organised into Support Categories. The main categories relevant to most disability support providers are: 01 — Daily Activities (assistance with self-care, household tasks, and personal activities); 04 — Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation (community access, social participation); 07 — Support Coordination; 08 — Improved Living Arrangements (SIL and related accommodation supports); and 15 — Daily Activities (High Intensity) (complex care supports requiring higher staff qualifications).
Many support items have different item codes and different maximum prices depending on when the support is delivered: weekday standard hours, weekday evening, overnight active night, overnight sleepover, Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday. Billing a Saturday shift at the weekday rate is an incorrect claim. Your billing system should automatically map shift records to the correct item code based on the date and time of service delivery.
High Intensity Daily Activities (Category 15) require providers to be registered in Registration Group 0104. Delivering these supports without the correct registration is a compliance breach regardless of whether the participant is Agency, Plan, or Self-managed. High Intensity supports include complex bowel care, tracheostomy management, ventilator management, and other clinical care tasks.
Step 1 — Identify the support category; Step 2 — Identify the registration group; Step 3 — Identify the delivery conditions (what day and time, what participant funding management type, standard or high intensity?); Step 4 — Verify the price limit using the current catalogue; Step 5 — Check the support purpose and definition to ensure the support you delivered matches the item description.
